Zambia

Republic Zambia - the state in the Central Africa the square 752,6  thousand sq. km. Till 1964 was protectorate of the Great Britain, nowadays - as a part of the British Commonwealth. An official language - English.

Zambia is generously endowed by the nature. Its basic part is occupied by hilly plateau (average altitudes 600-1350  with separate island mounts. In the north and the country northeast block Muchinga with a climate on knap Mumpu (1893  is lifted;). For terrain flat tectonic dints (Bangveulu, valley Luangvy, etc.), constituting part Great African fractures are characteristic. Almost all rivers refer to to basin of the boundary river Zambezi (Kafue, Luganva and other its smaller inflows), and the rivers of the extreme north - to a drainage basin of Congo. It is a lot of loches: Bagenveulu, a southern tip of loch Tanganyika, east part of loch Mweru, etc. To Zambezi (on boundary line from Zimbabwe) the largest conservation reservoir Kariba is created. Main place of interest of the country - the well-known giant Victoria falls in altitude 120  the m - is to Zambezi at the city of Livingstone.

A country Climate subequatorial with three seasons: rainy and warm (from November till April), dry and cool (May-July), hot and dry (August-October). Temperatures fluctuate from 15  °C in July to 27  °C in October. The annual precipitation in the north attains 1500  mm, and in the south - 700  mm.

The Vegetation is presented in the core savannymi by light forests with acacias and baobabs. The squares of woods increase from the south by the north, where eurysynusic dry tropical woods miombo, in valleys of the rivers - wet tropical woods. From large animals rhinoceroses, elephants, river horses, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, lions were saved. Occasionally there are also ostriches. The fauna is guarded in numerous reservations and national parks (Kafue, Lunga, Mweru-march, Lukusuzi, Luangva-Valli).

The country Population (nearby 8,5  million persons) sweepingly grows. Overwhelming majority of inhabitants - the people of bunch to a bow, merged in some large ethnic obshchnostej: bemba (in the north), tonga (in the south and in the middle), malavi and ngoni (in the east), lozi (in the west). In the core the population is occupied by farming agriculture, but third of inhabitants works in the industry (mainly in mining and nonferrous machine industry). Aboriginal traditions of workmanship are rich: woodcarving, weaving of ornamental baskets, earthenware business.

Capital of Zambia - Lusaka - the young modern city builted in 1931-1935, with the arranged well quarters in the European style. The city of Livingstone in the extreme south of the country - tourist capital, thanks to the neighbourhood with Victoria falls. In a city there is an anthropological museum and village-museum of the African life. Other large cities (in the core industrial and administrative centres) - Ndola (it is known for international fairs), Solvezi, Mongu, Kasama.
