the Climate of Tunis

In the climatic attitude all Tunis refers to to a class of the warm countries. Average summer temperatures compound 22-32  °C, averages winter - 5-12   °C. In northern part of Tunis the dry subtropical climate of the Mediterranean phylum, in the south - a hot climate of tropical deserts and semi-deserts predominates. Agency of the sea on a climate more considerably in northern part, but affects and in the east, in resort region: it relaxs heat in a strand a little. However when southern winds are dug through, dryness and heat are installed on all country. The wind sirokko, blowing of Sahara annually till many days is most hard tolerated successively.

The Natural vegetation in the terrain of Tunis since the old days invaded by farmers and breeders, is hardly variated. Only at northern coast it is possible to meet now the shady islets of the Mediterranean vegetation especially preserved in parks and gardens where it is a lot of also delivered ornamental subtropical plants. A part from them (the agava, a cactus, an opuntia) were settled on bolshej parts of Tunis. In mounts, on separate northern slopes, there is a feral olive berry, an oily arbour, cork and a holly oak, a laurus, a feral rose-tree.

the vegetation in a deserted part of Tunis is very poor. Only prickly bushes and lichens grow in stony desert Hamade, and on crescent-shaped sand dunes - the arbours of desert deprived of leaves (talha, etel). In oases it is possible to see groves of date palms, orchards, almond and olive arbours.
