Sakkara
the Funeral place of tsars of times of Ancient kingdom (2705-2177 B.C.) Sakkara is in 30 km from Cairo. It is the largest necropolis in Egypt (length - 8 km, width - from 800 m to 2 km). In Sakkare all history of a civilisation of Egypt is presented almost. Here it is possible to look at historical monuments of times of pharaons, the Ancient Greece and Roman empire.
During an epoch of Ancient kingdom by order of the first pharaon of III dynasty tripod signal Dzhosera has been erected well-known six-ladder-shaped. Northward from Sakkary is Mastaba - a tomb of last pharaon of IV dynasty SHepseskafa, looking like a huge sarcophagus. In the Sakkarsky necropolis in 1851 has been open ancient Serapium - a tomb of sacred bulls (apisy). In an antiquity temple Serapium was an enormous religious complex. Its main part - underground catacombs in which there are sarcophagi of sacred bulls. One of them are made of a granite, others - from basalt, the third - from sandstone. Weight of one of such sarcophagi together with a cover - 69 t. Till now in Serapiume archeological excavations which bring from time to time new sensational discoverings are conducted.
