The Monetary unit of the Tunisian Republic - a tunesian dinar (=1000 millimov) has been injected by the law since November, 1st, 1958 instead of the Tunisian franc. In circulation there are notes of denomination in 0,5, 1, 5 and 10 TUD.

The Tunesian dinar does not appear in the list of key world monetary units. And nevertheless it is quite converted, powerful and very resistant to against the dollar the USA currency. To no small degree it is contributed also by liberal enough currency rules: importation and HARD CURRENCY exportation here is not restricted (it is necessary to declare only the sum equivalent 10000  the American dollars and above), and educed turistky service. In Tunis it is possible to exchange without problems the brought currency for powerful aboriginal dinars. To do it is better in branches of banks (here a heading for foreigners more favourably), and also in intercharge points of large shopping centres, system Marhaba hotels among which are recommended Marhaba Palace, Marhaba Emperial, Marhaba Club. Traveller's cheques and basic international charge cards Visa, American Express and others are accepted in Tunis also.
