Laos

Laotian People's democratic Republic - the state in South East Asia, in the centre of Indochina peninsula (without an access to the sea). In the north Laos bounds with China , in the east - on Vietnam, in the south - with Cambodia , in the west - with Thailand , in the northwest - with Myanma . Boundary lines pass on natural natural boundaries - to the river Mekong or mountain ridges. The square - 236,8  thousand sq. km. The population - 4,5  million persons. It is one of the most sparsely populated countries of Asia. Over 70 % compound nationalities lao; other people: Vietnameses, Chineses, Burmans. An official language - Laotian. The majority of believers - Buddhists. Capital - Vientiane.

Laos is an edge of severe mounts and fertile river valleys. Mountain character of a landform predetermines disconnexion of separate regions and hinders communications with an external world.

The country Capital - Vientiane (a Moon city), in him bunks nearby 200  thousand inhabitants. Vientiane - the industrial, trading and cultural centre, port on the river Mekong. It is one of the most ancient cities of the country, saved, though at times and in the destroyed aspect, numerous pagodas.

Other large cities of the country: Luang Prabang and Savannakhet. Over the city of Luang Prabang 31 pagoda towers. Here there is a building of the former royal palace, and in suburb sacred grottoes with statues of the Buddha were saved.
