History of Tunis
the mankind has mastered Terrain of Tunis more million years ago, here again rather there were first states. In XII century B.C. in neritic lagoons there were Greek settlements, and then - Phoenician. The Phoenician colony Carthago has attained the greatest power and in the beginning of III century B.C. was considered as the strongest state of the Mediterranean. Lesions of Carthago during three wars with Rome have made it from the middle of II century B.C. the Roman province. In such rule of land of Tunis were up to V century of our era when after disorder of the greatest empire, the North African lands began to pass from one conquerors to other. In V-VII centuries vandals, alany and Byzantium serially took possession of this range while in the end of VII century there were no the Arabs who have got down to extending in all terrain of Tunis of Moslem.
In 800 to year Tunis was abjointed from Arabian halifata, having created own state, worrying by times serious intrinsic difficulties. Its disintegration and a gain in the middle of XII century became a consequence of that, probably, also. Having achieved independence, Tunis since XIII century played the important role in the Arabian world, has not faced yet in XVI century an encroachment on its sovereignty Spain . Not wishing to be subject to Europeans, Tunis in the end of XVI century recognised dependence from Turkey. In XVIII century this dependence hardly oslabla also had formal character that has allowed to inject in 1861 in the country the first constitution. But the reinforcement of financial dependence on the European capital allowed first of all to France to observe lands of Tunis as the future colony. In 1881 Frenchmen occupied Tunis, resistance tryings have been depressed. However after the First World War they were developed with new force.
The Begun Second World War has variated a political situation to some time in the country. In 1942 Tunis was captureed by the germano-Italian troops, in 1943 - the English-French parts. After the end of war the colonialism has been rebuilt, that contributed in growth of national-liberation struggle even more. In 1954 France has granted Tunis an intrinsic autonomy, and in 1956 - complete independence. Since July, 1957 Tunis has intoned itself republic.
