Dominican Republic

Dominican republic occupies east part of island Haiti and some small islands in Caribbean sea. The square 48,7  thousand sq. km. A population - nearby 7,6  million persons. Capital - Santo-Domingo (more than 2,2 million inhabitants). The Official language - Spanish. 70 % of black friars are compounded by mulattos, 15 % - Negroes and 15 % - white.

The Island Haiti has been open by Columbus in 1492. At the same time on him Indians of nation of Arawaks bunked. Columbus has mortgaged here the first city in New Light, having named it Izabel. After island separation in 1697 the western part has been passed to France (terrain of modern Republic Haiti), and east remained under sovereignty of Spain. In 1821 independence of Dominican republic (under the protection of Colombia) has been intoned. But definitively the country became free only in 1865

the Country has a mountainous landform and hardly cut up water front amounting almost 1500  km. Between basic mountain ridges Kordileroj-Septentrional and Kordileroj-Sentral the most fertile valleys Sibao and Vega-Real were stretched. It is the basic agrarian region of the country, the bulk of agricultural products here is effected and the basic part of rural population is concentrated.

A country Climate tropical, passatnyj. Because of a mountain landform here does not happen characteristic for tropics of suffocating heat. Heavy rainfall falls out from May till November.

The national economy Basis is compounded by agriculture, long years specialising almost exclusively on sugarcane cultivation. From other crops most bananas and cocoa have great value.

the Largest and most ancient city of Dominican republic - its capital Santo-Domingo based still in 1496  to year. Second on significance a country city - Santiago-de-los-Kabaleros (more 100  thousand inhabitants).
