Federal Islamic Republic Comoro Islands - the state which has been had in Indian ocean on archipelago from four islands (Great Comoro, Anzhuan, Moheli and the having status of the French terrain Majotta) at northern entry to Mozambique channel. A total area - 2,2  thousand sq. km. Official languages - French and Arabian.

Comoro Islands - a vulcanic parentage, and eruption of burning mountains descend and now. The largest burning mountain - Kartala (2361  on island Great Comoro. The central part of each island is occupied by a mountain vulcanic block, hollow lowered towards narrow neritic lowlands. Lavovye fields, craters, black basaltic lumps, caves create unique, almost unearthly landscape. Lifeless heckles of vulcanic mounts contrast with the timbered slopes paid to ocean and the green neritic plains bordered with beaches from coral sand. A climate hot and wet: monthly average temperatures 24-27  °C, deposits in a year falls out from 1100  mm in the central regions of islands to 3000  mm on slopes and neritic plains. Tropical high forests on slopes abound with the special aboriginal aspects of plants and animals: Huge tree ferns, large lycopods and horsetails are picturesque, on margins it is possible to see lemurs, tenrekov, viverr (mammals to which number mongooses refer to also). In waters flowing about Comoro Islands have been caught kisteperye fishes - tselakanty, dwelling in ocean still 400  million years ago.

Ethnic composition of the population (nearby 516  thousand persons) rather motley, but the majority compounds the people antaloatra, formed as a result of mixture of offsprings of Arabs with Malagasies and to a bow. Inhabitants are occupied in the core by farming agriculture (one of the basic cultivated crops - vanilla, and also other spices). The Applied art komortsev, developed under the influence Muslim crops, is presented richly ornamentirovannymi both the encrusted nacre and copper by wood items. Capital and the biggest city of archipelago - Moroni (island Great Comoro). Here many ancient mosques, but main place of interest of a city - the big bright and picturesque market.
