Cape Verde

the Inland state (the self-name - Cabo Verde) in 500  km from coast of the Western Africa. The terrain consists from 10 large and 5  a total area hardly it is more than small islands 4  thousand sq. km ². Till 1975 - possession Portugal, nowadays - presidential republic. An official language - Portuguese.

Islands look severe enough and unapproachable: skalisty, natural harbours it is not enough their shore (that it is bound to a vulcanic parentage of islands). A landform mountainous, with assemblage gone out and active volcanoes. A climate - an apex of active volcano Fogu on the island with the same name (2829  m above sea level). The harbour of the largest port of Mindello on island the Dignity-visenti represents the deluged crater of a lost volcano.

An archipelago Climate tropical, almost all year long dry and hot. Monthly average temperatures vary from 21-22  °C (January-February) to 24-26  °C (September-October), but in mounts is more cool. Deposits falls out all 100-300  mm a year, in the core in August-October when southwest monsoons blow.

The archipelago Vegetation is rather poor: semidesert small-leaved bushes and grasses though at coasts there are artificial plantations of a date palm and a messmate predominate. The fauna also is poor. To ward of Europeans which have delivered many domestic animals, and also rabbits, rats and monkeys, here at all were not mammals. But auks, especially marine - frigates, seagulls and so forth

Local population are offsprings of the slaves which have blent with the Portuguese population. Mulattos compound more 60 % of all inhabitants, negroidnye the people (mandzhak, balante, etc.) - 35 %. The majority of believers - christians-Catholics, but a part practises traditional African religions. A basis of economy of islands - agriculture (coffee, a castor-oil plant, bananas, a sugarcane, corn).

The Largest cities of the country - capital Praia (more than 60 thousand inhabitants) on island Santjagu and Mindello (20  thousand inhabitants) on island the Dignity-viseti.
