Burundi

Burundi - the small state at northeast coast of loch Tanganyika in East Africa - occupies the space 27,8  thousand sq. km. In the end of XIX - the beginning of the XX-th century of Burundi was colony Germany, then (till 1962) - Belgium. Official languages - French and kirundi.

On terrain Burundi there passes an interstream between the rivers Niles and Congo. The country bulk is occupied with plateau (1500-2000 , lifted to the West to 2500  m (a climate - 2670 ) where it terminates to loch Tanganyika. In this region a landform hardly recut, reminding mountain: with deep valleys, cataracts, abrupt slopes. The loch and the boundary river Ruzizi running into it lay on plain extending northward with fertile soils.

The Climate of Burundi equatorial, with more wet summer. Monthly average temperatures on plateau are not hauled down more low 21-22  °C, in a valley of river Ruzizi - more low 25  °C. Deposits - 1000-1200  mm, in the west to 1400 mm a year - fall out in the core in the hottest months and almost at once exhale. The largest rivers - Ruzizi, Ruvuvu, Malagarasi. In peatbogs originate Kazumo and Akanjaru, considered as sources of Nile.

There is no time extensive tropical woods covering the country have disappeared, having given way to savannahs with the undersized light forests formed by umbelliferous acacias, treelike spurges, the solitary palm trees and tamarinds, prickly bushes. Almost all large animals, except for water buffaloes and antelopes, are exterminated. But are rich with life of water of the loch Tanganyika, three which quarters of fishes do not dwell more anywhere in the world.

Almost all population of the country (5,66  million persons) belongs to the related people hutu and tutsi. The pygmies-tva who for a long time have passed from traditional hunting to farming agriculture are very not numerous. The bulk of inhabitants - christians (in the core - roman catholics), the others adhere to aboriginal traditional cults. National craft creativity of inhabitants of Burundi has ancient traditions: a diverse earthenware, wattled carpets, mats, the baskets decorated with an ornament use popularity. Tutsi have a reputation for kings of the African dance.
