History of Slovakia

Slovakia was formed as an independent state on January, 1st, 1993 after disintegration of Czechoslovakia. Slovaks compound about 85 % of the population of the country. The largest national minority - the Hungarians living mainly in the south of the country, along the Hungarian boundary line. A state language is Slovak, the majority of the believing population - roman catholics.
