Geography of Belgium
Belgium - the small country, under the form reminds the triangle which has been drawn through on 300 km from the east on the West and 100 km from the north on the south (the square - 30,5 thousand sq. km, on a quarter less than the Moscow range). All country can be recut on a diagonal for two-three hours on arterial high-ways.
The terrain Bulk - the extensive plain raising from Flandrijsky and Kampinsky lowlands on the southeast - to timbered hills of Ardenness (altitude to 694 ). In the west the country is restricted by a strip of dunes (66 the km) the North Sea into which the river Schelde runs - its estuary firth forms northern boundary line. On Schelde one of large ports of the world - Antwerp is had. Through the country the rivers Maass, Leje with inflows and Albert's canals, Schelde-Maas, Gent-Ostende proceed also. Total length of waterways of Belgium - 1990 km, including 735 km of canals. Overland the country bounds with France, Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
