Brunei

Brunei - sultanat in South East Asia, on a part of coast of island Kalimantan (the square - 5,8  thousand sq. km, the population - 275  thousand persons). Bounds with Malaysia, in the north it is flowed about by South China sea. Capital - Bandar Seri Begawan. Official languages - Malayan and English. Brunei there is no time represented the powerful feudal state occupying in ÕVI century a significant part of Kalimantan and some next islands. Today from the West to the east the country can be recut on the car for 2 hours. Sandy beaches alternate with mangrove family a tangle. The neritic lowland gradually passes in low chains of hills, and here and there in piedmonts. East coast is hardly boggy. Brunei non-uniform is invaded: 1/3 population live in capital, other significant part is concentrated around oil fields. An oil recovery - main branch of a national economy.

The Ethnic composition is very impure: over half of population - Malayans, it is a lot of representatives of the radical people of Kalimantan - kelajanov, ibanov, melanau, dusunov, murutov; there are Chineses, natives of India. Malayans are engaged in agriculture, handcraft, fishery, Chineses - trade, small business; dajaki - fishermen, hunters, farmers.

Country Capital - the city of Bandar Seri Begawan (the population - 52  thousand persons), is in river Brunei lower reaches. The city is pressed to the river by timbered hills. In the middle it towers big belokamennaja a mosque with a gilt dome. Nearby government agencies, commercial quarters. Near to capital there is an international airport.
