Albania

Albania is had in the western part of Balkan peninsula, at coast of Adriatic sea. Strait of Otranto, width 75  the km, abjoints Albania from Italy. On a land Albania bounds on Yugoslavia, Macedonia and Greece. The square - 28,7  thousand km ². The population of Albania - nearby 3,4  million persons. Capital - the city of Tirana.

Albania has gained independence in 1912  to year, before it was under the power of Ottoman empire. During the Second World War, with 1939 for 1944, the country has been occupied by Italy. With 1944 for 1992 in Albania rules the communistic Albanian labour party which was pursuing a policy of an artifical isolation of the country from an external world. Aftereffects of it are felt and now: a standard of living in Albania - one of the lowest in Europe.

Albania - the one-national country, Albanians compound 97  population %. They are offsprings of the ancient population of the Balkans - illirijtsev and Thracians. The country state language - Albanian - is not similar to one of the European tongues. The majority of Albanians - Moslems-sunnity.

Along the Albanian coast of Adriactic Sea the rather narrow hilly plain is stretched. In the south, the east and the north it is framed high ostrovershinnymi by the mountain ridges overgrown with wood. The highest point of the country - mount Êîðàáè  (2764 . In the north of Albania, on boundary line with Yugoslavia, the block of the Northern-Albanian Alpes towers. Albania particulate posesses three large loches - Ohridsky, SHkoder (Skadarsky) and Prespa. The largest rivers of the country - Drin and Mati.

The Climate in Albania Mediterranean, with dry hot summer (24-25  °C) and soft rainy winter (8-9  °C). In mounts in the winter within several months snow lays.

Main natural places of interest of Albania are the mounts which have been cut by deep narrow valleys, and picturesque loches, first of all, Ohridsky.
